SPECIAL EVENTS

PICNIC AND PLAY

              This is a fun time planned twice a year, in September and April, for families to bring their own picinc lunch and have lunch together after worship to enjoy our playground and fellowship with each other.  It is a great way for families of young children to get to know each other better.

PALM SUNDAY

It has been a special tradition at Chapin Presbyterian for our children to process into the church on Palm Sunday waving palm fronds.  It is a special way to incorporate our children into a very significant occasion in the life of the church.

EASTER CROSS WALK and EGG HUNT

The Saturday before Easter is the annual EASTER CROSS WALK and EGG HUNT.  This is a special acitvity that involves the adult Sunday School classes at our church, as they plan a walk through the last week of Jesus' life for our children to experience.  Palm Sunday, The Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Cross, and the Tomb are all represented and acted out.  There is an egg hunt following, with lots of candy filled eggs and prizes.  This is an outreach event that we invite our community to attend.

 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Summer is not complete without Vacation Bible School!  This also is an outreach event, so invite all the kids from 4 years old through rising 5^th graders.  There will be child care for Nursery through 4 year old children of workers only. 

Each year there are tee shirts that cost approximately $8.  Pre-Registration for attendance and tee shirts is requested.                         

Lots of help is needed to accomplish this event, so please pray about volunteering to help make this possible for our children. Contact Debbie Rowell if you'd like to be a part of our VBS.

GETTING READY FOR BIG CHURCH

This is a special time just for our kindergarteners who are about to enter first grade.  In our church the kindergarteners not only graduate into first grade, but they also graduate into going to “big church”.  This special class is a special time each week for 3 weeks when Pastor Dan, Pastor Tim, and Elder Mark will spend a short while with these children teaching them about the various aspects of “big church”.  Hopefully, it will enable the children to be more knowledgeable participants in the worship service.

END OF SUMMER SPECATCULAR

This is truly a spectacular event celebrating the end of summer vacation and the beginning of the new school/church year!  On the third Sunday in August, you are invited to come and bring everybody – friends, neighbors, relatives – from age 2 through 5^th grade to enjoy a delightful time!   We fill our grounds with moon bounces, face painting, water slides, kitty pools, snow cones, cotton candy,  popcorn, and more – all for just the right price – FREE! 

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Join us for some old fashioned fun, as we set up outside with our blankets, chairs, and popcorn to watch a family friendly movie together.  These are  scheduled twice a year, in May and October.

DROP ‘N SHOP

Each year, working in conjunction with the Youth Ministry, we sponsor this special event where parents are invited to drop their children off and spend the evening Christmas shopping.  The children are with us between 5 and 9 PM.  There is dinner, games, crafts, movies, and a really good time!  Don’t tell anybody, but some parents have been known to go to a movie instead of shopping!  For this occasion you will need to register and fill out a  permission slip.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS

On Christmas Eve, we celebrate the birthday of Jesus!  There is a birthday cake with candles, we sing “Happy Birthday to Jesus”, have favors and a really great time!  This event is held following the 6:00 Christmas Eve celebration service.
