We do treasure our volunteers – they are the only reason this ministry functions so well. As our Childrens Department grows we are always in need of more volunteers!
The Children’s Ministry is volunteer intensive! During a month, we need approximately 110 volunteers for the Birth through Kindergarten classes alone...and then there are the elementary school classes! In each class of 3-year-olds through Fifth graders, there is a teacher and a Helper. The Teacher must be a church member, but a helper need not be a church member. In the Birth through Kindergarten classes, teens are invited to be Helpers.
In the elementary grade classes some of the teachers choose to teach every week; some teachers are part of a team who take turns teaching.
In August there is a Teacher/Helper Training Dinner/Workshop that is not only informative but fun too!
Time Commitment -- When you volunteer to help in the Children’s Ministry, we ask for a commitment of a year – from August through July. In the Birth through Kindergarten classes, the volunteer usually serves one Sunday per month … more if they like.
Youth volunteers can only serve one Sunday a month and must have parental permission.
We welcome men into this ministry. I feel that it is very important for the young men of this church family to see that caring for and teaching the children is not simply “women’s work”!
When you volunteer to help in the Children’s Ministry we ask for you to submit the following:
Children’s Ministry Application
Child Protection Policy agreement form
SLED check application
