CHILDREN – 4 year olds through 5th grade
At Chapin Presbyterian, we feel that our main role in the Children's Ministry is to act as a support system to the parents in leading their children to the Lord and growing in their relationships with Him.
To this end we pursue many areas of support:
Worship
All children from the first grade and up participate in the worship service. We even have a special class in July called “Getting Ready for Big Church” where the Pastors and the Children's Ministry Elder spend time with the Kindergarteners teaching them what to expect when they move to the first grade. We feel that having the generations come together in worship is a very special time for our families.
Education
Each Sunday School class has a curriculum provided to the teachers. Along with this curriculum come materials for the children to take home that the parents can use during the week to support the home training. Scripture memory is emphasized. During the 10:30 worship service there is a children’s church time for the 4 and 5 year olds. There is a special curriculum for this time too. See curriculum for more details.
You are invited to help in any of these classes. Only church members may be teachers; members and regular visitors may be helpers.
Missions
Every 5th Sunday there is a special mission project that the children do in order to minister to those outside of the church family. Many of these projects involve the missionaries that our church supports, and local charities. During Chapin Day the children are encouraged to join their families as they do service projects that reach out to our community.
Fellowship
As you will see on our Special Events page, there are many opportunities for children and families to come together in special times of fun and fellowship. On most of these occasions, they are invited to bring friends to join in the celebrations. These events include such things as the End of Summer Spectacular, the Easter Cross Walk, Movie Nights, Picnic and Play dates, etc.
Music
We feel that music is one of the special ways that the children can minister to the church family. We have two children's choirs, one for 2-5 year olds and Christmas KidZ Choir for (1st -5th grades). These groups minister to the church family during the worship service several times through the year. The younger children (2-5 year olds) rehearse during their Sunday School time, and the older children rehearse following the 10:30 worship service for a short time.
There is also a children’s handbell choir for elementary school aged children. They rehearse prior to the 10:30 worship service and perform several times throughout the year.

Security
We are very conscious of the security of our children. All of the adult teachers and helpers have been screened with background checks. There are also Registration Forms for parents to fill out for each child. On this form you have a place to tell us of any allergies you child might have, and who is permitted to pick them up. There are special dual nametags for the 4's through Kindergarteners.
